My Mary: I may not be able to download skype on the ship and talking on the phone was expensive already, not to mention now being on the ship, so we’ll have to keep that to a minimum, but I want to be with you as much as possible, so for now I will simply post my love letters to you from the ship onto our blog. Know that I love you in each moment…
My sweet love— Mmmm…..how I wish you were here with me! Funny thing, though, somehow I feel even closer to you, more connected, more like you are with me, here at sea, even more than when I am at home. Perhaps it is our shared love of adventure that brings you softly to my balcony, gently to my room. Or maybe it’s that at the moments when I am most at home, like feeling the sense of movement across the ocean and the gentle rolling of the ship along the swell, you are closest to me because you ARE my home.
I thought it would be difficult to be present here AND be with you at the same time, but it’s not. That’s our gift! To be able to be present here with my family and friends, enjoying all the movement and activities and great food and the soft passing of the ocean below my balcony and FEEL you here with me so strongly in every moment…you are the gift that I give to myself!
And you are ALL DONE with any issues you used to have with being in a boat. No more sea sickness for you! However that served you in the past is no longer needed, so you can rest assured that you won’t have to worry about that anymore. It’s nice to be able to be alone here and still FEEL you with me, but this is the LAST cruise I will take without you! Ahhhh, how you will LOVE this! Cruising people are so much like us! So much about reaching their lives out away from “normal”. As a whole, they are the most outgoing, gregarious bunch I’ve ever come across. Except for folks who’ve been to OI of course! (The Option Institute, http://www.option.org ).
Even so, I DO miss having you here with me to experience this. To sit on our balcony and sip our coffee watching the sun come up. To walk the upper decks while at sea with the wind whipping through our hair and clothes, reminding us that God is alive today! That this universe is here for our enjoyment and our learning and the reminder for today is to open all of our senses completely!
So close your eyes, my love, and come for a walk with me. Feel the wind in your hair (we’ll fix it later!), smell the salt air, listen to the soothing sound of the engines as they sing us south towards the warm trade winds, watch the smiles of the children as they splash in the pool and dance on the deck, and taste the warm melting chocolate cake—mmmmmmmm!!!! I close my eyes and you are with me on that deck and in that wind! I love you love you love you and I am SO BLESSED to be loved by you!
