Yesterday afternoon I was “hanging in there” since my backpain was back and I could hardly move. So what I did was relax for a moment and watch some television. OMG! I saw this program in which young talents are conquering each other to see who is the best make-up artist. After watching 10 minutes I had the feeling I had to throw up. Emotionally spoken that is….
Ten young men and women were standing there to be criticized, one of them did not do what the makers asked and when they told her so she ignored the critics and just went on and did the make-up her way. Now for what’s about that I totally agree. Whenever you feel something is right, follow your intuition and go for it! Unfortunately this was not that kind of show in which this was possible. One needs to follow up what one is told by three different “masters”. I do realize that when you say “Yes” to such a show, you also accept the rules. Well, this young lady did not and therefore I respect her. She stood for what she believed was beautiful, no comment on that. But….as the jury told her she had to leave because she could not cooperate she started to act very arrogant. She felt like she was the best, way better than the rest of them including the jury. Her facial expression was very much clear and expressed exactly what she thought. She considered herself to be way to good for these “experts” and nobody would ever tell her that her style sucked. So she felt great and said she was so proud of herself, repeated that three times and then left. Fact is she was not able to work as a team and her ego was way too present. The way she left could even be translated as being arrogant. She felt she was too good for these people.
So what is ego? Is it something bad? Something negative? Is it a lack of self reflection? Or is it Fear?
According to Wikipedia Ego is:
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
So Ego is a part of your being you. In Nature Ego can be useful when you want to eat first, putting yourself first. The weakest puppies are pushed away by the more stronger ones. Ego in human society mostly means you are putting yourself first too, but in a more selfish way. What is normal in Nature, can be explained as not very well socialized in human society. Now this is a taught belief.
We all have taught beliefs. Our parents mostly raised us by telling not to take the last cookie when there are more people who might want to eat that. It is considered as impolite when you take it. But when can you take it? Does this have to do with the way hierarchy works?
We do not always know what our hierarchy is. We envy the person we believe is the Leader of the human pack. This used to be the father of a family. Nowadays the hierarchy has changed, father and mother both are leaders but is that a real leadership? We see children who reach the age of young adults stand up against their parents in a non polite and even aggressive way. Their ego tells them they want something without considering the hierarchy of the pack. Their ego leads to arrogance. They believe they know best. They put themselves first. They do not accept the leader anymore because there is no leader in the house most of the time. So they become their own leader. Without looking at what the rest of the human pack wants. When there is a lack of a present leader there will be no respect and no asking. There will be the rule of the strongest takes it all.
Arrogance is truly believing you are better than the Others. The opposite of Arrogance is Empathy. Today I was watching a television show about a millionnair who lived in a poor part of a town in England for ten days. He lived in a small house, made contact with the people around him from that neighborhood and I saw the true face of Empathy…He gave money to the people who needed it most and could mean a lot to many people there. And like many times in my Life I felt moved to tears. I always wondered why it moved me when I saw a parade people organized as a surprise for someone, or a Loving gesture on a unexpected moment, an arm around the shoulder of a person who feels miserable and so on. It moves me to tears and I can sense it in my soul. The reason why is because I realize I am here with a reason. To make this world a better place. And even when I will not be able to change the entire world, I still can make a difference. Watching other people Care, Love or Help is a Gift I can feel because it resonates with my own Soul Energy.
To make this world a better place. What can you do to make your world a better place?
Call a person you were thinking of for several days in a row? Apparently there is something a matter otherwise you wouldn’t sense it. Don’t reason it away but call.
Helping a neighbor out by giving him a hand, just a thought? No! Go and do it.
Waiting for a mother to cross the road, while she expects you to drive by just like the rest of the car drivers? You will feel happy yourself and most likely you will get a happy face from the mother with her kids who has been standing there for minutes to cross.
Standing in line at the supermarket with groceries for the entire week? Just tell the person who stands in line behind you to go first. It’s all small, but it gives so much Joy and happiness.
We can make this world a better place by stop judging each other. By helping out. By giving a happy smile to a person in opposite of you in the train when you sit down. Holding the door for a person who enters the same place as you do. Or by giving that call. Once you start doing this, it will be a ripple in the ocean that’s called our world. Pay it forward. Not because you have to, but because you want to.
